POP-UP ART SHOW AT WATER STREET presented by CASS

THIS EVENT IS OVER

Welcome to “Isolation,”’ a Homebody pop up by Hueman. Premiering in the SF Bay Area in January 2022, Homebody is an immersive art experience inviting viewers to engage with Hueman’s work at the intersection of art and technology. ‘Isolation’ is one of five installations of Homebody, premiering on its own at the Water Street District in Tampa, Florida this October 2022.

The original exhibit spanned over 20,000 square feet, allowing guests to journey through five cohesive installations in an astonishing space. Translucent floor-to-ceiling installations expand upon Hueman’s Veiled Intent series of work, which play with themes of transparency, light, color and space. This astonishing 360 immersive experience is unlike any other, brought to dynamic life by projection mapping and augmented reality activated on our smart devices.

As society excitedly returns to normal, we reflect on our collective experience in isolation. The past few years have affected the way we look at ourselves and each other; we have been existing together, apart. Through a global pandemic, political unrest, and a burgeoning climate emergency, we find ourselves in a perpetual state of crisis. Hueman encourages visitors to look inward as “Isolation” explores identity in the context of an unprecedented moment in time: What happens when we are forced to stay at home and face ourselves?

ABOUT HUEMAN

Allison Hueman is a multidisciplinary artist based in Oakland, CA. Her distinctly gauzy art style is what she likes to call “etherealism,” a blend of ethereal realism. Whether she is creating delicate visions on canvas, augmenting reality through video projections and other digital media, or crushing massive walls with a spray can, she often draws on the human condition to create colorful mash-ups of the abstract and figurative. Her pieces explore themes of time, memory, trauma and healing, and her layered work can be seen on streets and in galleries worldwide. She balances her time between exhibitions and creating public works while also collaborating with some of the world's top brands that include the Golden State Warriors, Adobe, Nike, Google, L’Oreal, Sony Music, and many more. Her work has found homes in the collections of Ava Duvernay, Usher, P!nk, and Swizz Beats.
