KAMPUS

KAMPUS began his artistic journey in his early teens, writing on school walls and across the streets of Lisbon. What started as an urge to leave a mark slowly evolved into a consistent visual language rooted in observation, humor, and distortion.

He became known for his recurring “Sausage” character, which appeared throughout Lisbon—simple, bold, and instantly recognizable. That early street presence shaped his approach: direct, playful, and unafraid of awkwardness.

Today, his work moves between painting and drawing, always beginning with almost compulsive sketches from memory. He observes everyday life and looks for the peculiar in the banal. Forms are distorted, exaggerated, and simplified—chasing that weird, ugly, funny, I can live with that kind of feeling.

Kampus creates images that are slightly off but deeply human. His goal is simple: to bring people joy—something strange, maybe a bit silly, but good for the heart. Like a goofy gesture that feels more honest than anything rehearsed.
